Government approval new education policy Bay 2020

The new education policy was approved by the cabinet. It is the third education policy of independent India. Earlier, education policies were implemented in 1968 and 1986.  After 1986, this education policy took 34 years to arrive, the education policy is a vision.  For the government in which the objectives and goals of the future are set, the education policy should be reviewed and necessary changes should be made every 10 years in view of the rapidly changing global scenario and the radical changes in the social structure.

Education determines the direction and condition of society.  That if there is to be major changes in a country and society, then change over time in education is necessary.  The Bharatiya Janata Party also changed its election promise education policy in the 2014 general election.  In June 2017, an 11 member committee was constituted under the chairmanship of ISRO head Dr K Kasturirangan, which prepared the draft policy related to education policy in May 2019. The new education policy 2020 consultation process has been the world's largest consultation process since January 2019.  Till 31 October 2019, all aspects were discussed and suggestions were taken on a broad scale.

On July 29, 2020, Union Human Resource Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank introduced the draft of the new education policy and called it the beginning of a new era. Senior Union Minister and Spokesperson Prakash Javadekar called this new education policy a historic decision.

India's first national education policy was based on the Kothari report announced in July 1968. The second education policy was announced in 1986, in which amendments were also made based on the reviews of the committee constituted in 1990 headed by Acharya Ramamurthy and the committee constituted in 1993 by Prof. Yashpal.  .

Education is currently the subject of a concurrent list, it was added to the concurrent list from the state list on the 42nd constitution amendment 1976, that is, education rules can be made by both the state and the center.  In this education policy, a provision has been made that in the event of conflict between the Center and the state, both will decide by consensus.

The education situation in India was very weak at the time of independence, India's literacy at that time was 15 to 18%, according to the 2011 census, India's literacy is 74.04%.  Which is much lower than 84% of the world's literacy, India's female literacy is very unfortunate 65.46 percent.

Provisions related to all levels and activities of education have been made by the new education policy 2020. The main objective of education policy has been to emphasize quality and universal education as well as vocational education.  In this, the diversity of Indian culture has been properly incorporated.
