Good news about the vaccine: From May 1, all people over the age of 18 will be vaccinated against corona, and registration through Covin will be required.

Vaccination of all citizens above the age of 18 years will start from May 1, the Union government announced after a number of meetings held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  The government has also decided that vaccine companies will provide 50 per cent of their supply to the center.  The remaining 50 per cent of the supply could be given to the state governments or sold on the open market.  Registration through Covin will be required in advance for vaccination.

The government said in a statement after a record 2.73 lakh cases were registered in the country in a single day.  So far the government has only allowed frontline workers and people over the age of 45 to be vaccinated.  The first or second dose of the vaccine has been given to 12.38 crore people across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government was working hard to ensure that as many Indians as possible were vaccinated in the shortest possible time.

Vaccination will be free or will have to pay

The government has said it will soon provide information on the protocol for vaccinating people over the age of 18 against the corona virus.  The government will soon announce whether citizens will have to pay for the vaccine or whether it will be free.  Recently, some state chief ministers demanded that the fixed age limit for corona vaccine be lowered.  In these circumstances, the decision taken by the government today is considered important.  People will have to take their Aadhaar card to the vaccination center.

An application was also filed in the Supreme Court for vaccination

Earlier on Friday, an application was filed in the Supreme Court seeking vaccination of all persons above the age of 18 years.  Lawyer MR Shamshad had filed a petition on behalf of lawyer Rashmi Singh seeking vaccination of the youth and activists in the country.

The center will set the criteria and give the vaccine to the states

The central government will set the standard for vaccines with its own 50 per cent quota.  The vaccines will first go to the most affected states and union territories.  States will also be negatively marked for vaccine wastage.  For this all the states have to give information in advance.
